Founded in 1989 by Filippo Strati, Studio Ricerche Sociali (SRS) was definitely closed the 31st December 2017. SRS aimed at offering knowledge useful to promote and evaluate policies and initiatives based on the principles of:
  • Sustainability, understood as the capacity to reconcile Humanity and Nature
  • Social Inclusion, understood as access to resources and services (environmental, social and economic) according to universal rights and citizenship
  • Development, understood as the process whereby human knowledge, understanding and potentiality are used to improve the quality of life
  • Sustainable Development, defined as the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (Brundtland Commission, UN, 1987)

The main areas of the SRS expertise included:
  • sustainable development and Local Agenda 21 processes
  • social inclusion and policies to fight against social exclusion and poverty
  • transport, logistics and tourism, with particular attention to their energy consumption and environmental impacts
  • labour market and employment policies
  • local employment initiatives and self-employment
  • governance, subsidiarity and participation in decision-making processes
  • legislative, institutional and organisational reforms
  • project management, evaluation and monitoring methodologies

SRS contributed to the development of Approaches (theoretical frameworks), Methods (operational frameworks) and Tools (practical means to implement approaches and methods in a specific context) concerning the following themes:
